The much anticipated Tour of Merseyside

TOUR OF Merseyside, Sunday 7th July – Saturday 13th July.
The Tour of Merseyside is a new event being proposed that will see a series of six races staged over seven days. The races will be in different locations across Merseyside and over different distances and terrain.

The combined distances of all six races will be 52 miles and participant’s times will be combined after each event to give a composite as well as individual time. The event is based on the old Tour of Tameside which was hosted for a number of years by Dr. Ron Hill.

Places will provisionally be restricted to the first 300 and allocated on a first come first served basis.

The first entry received will be allocated number 1. The second received number 2 and so on.

The Tour of Merseyside structure is likely to be as follows -

  • Sunday, 7th July – time tbc Half Marathon
  • Monday, 8th July – 6.30pm Off road 10K
  • Tuesday, 9th July – 6.30pm Beach race x 10 miles
  • Wednesday, 10th July. No race.
  • Thursday, 11th July – 6.30pm Cross Country 10K
  • Friday, 12th July – 6.30pm 5 mile road race
  • Saturday,13th July – 10.30am (tbc) Multi terrain 12 miles, coastal run

A number of different locations are being considered across Merseyside and details of the courses will be announced as and when confirmed but discussion is underway about using the new Southport Half Marathon as the start point and a Wirral Coastal run to close proceedings.

Plans are being looked into to host a presentation afternoon in New Brighton close to the finish with a full video review of each event.

The entry fee will be directly linked to the cost of delivery and is expected to be £90 which equates to £15 per event.

Each event will be electronically timed and participants will retain their race number for each event.

More details to follow as and when confirmed.
