RUN FOR THE 96 5K 2021

Entries are open for the virtual Run For The 96 on Saturday 22 May 2021.

Due to the ongoing global Covid-19 health pandemic, once again we are hosting Run For The 96 fun run as a virtual event. We are living in extraordinary circumstances, but it’s so important that we continue to honour The 96.

There are 5K and 1 Mile options and you can walk, jog or run to remember The 96 wherever you are in the world. Why not complete your chosen virtual distance with a friend, socially distanced of course!

You’ll be sent your run number and commemorative medal. The entry fee has been reduced to reflect the virtual format. Overseas registrations are also welcome.

Run For The 96 was first staged in 2015 as a positive community legacy event to celebrate the lives of the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the Hillsborough tragedy on 15 April 1989. The event also remembers the families of The 96 and the survivors, who have tirelessly fought for justice with the utmost dignity.

Run For The 96 has the support of the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG).

Last year we had 1,600 virtual runners across the world, helping to raise £6,700 for charities.

Run For The 96 has gone global with kind-hearted runners and football supporters pulling on their trainers in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and United States Of America. As well as runners closer to home in Liverpool, Isle Of Man, Jersey, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

All monies raised through sponsorship and donations will be split equally between the LFC Foundation; Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation; Everton in the Community; and Stanley Park Liverpool CIC. Find out more on the Run For The 96 fundraising page.

We would encourage participants to complete the 5K or 1 Mile fun run on the virtual event date of Saturday 22 May 2021. However, you can run as soon as you receive your event number and medal.

Don’t forget to take a selfie and include your race number and medal on the picture – it will be included in an online virtual gallery. Please send images to alan@btrliverpool.com

Run For The 96 usually takes place in Stanley Park, located between Liverpool Football Club’s Anfield Stadium and Everton Football Club’s Goodison Park. And we’re already looking forward to seeing everyone run together in Stanley Park in 2022. We really can’t wait!

In the meantime, let’s come together virtually and run to remember The 96 on Saturday 22 May 2021. Thank you for your support.

RUN FOR THE 96/5K 2021

Due to the ongoing global health pandemic it is not possible to the 96/5K event on Saturday 22nd May as an actual event.

It is is with great regret that we cannot join together in Stanley Park... but we can still celebrate the day by once again running either 5K or 1 mile virtually.

Last year we had a fantastic virtual turn out with people running across the globe supporting the official event charities who will again be the LFC Foundation, the Jamie Carragher 23 Foundation, Everton In The Community and Stanley Park C.I.C.

Nothing can replace the sense of occasion that we all have when we congregate in Stanley Park and there is nothing better than the sight of reds and blues coming together on this very special day - but the virtual option does allows supporters from across the globe to get involved and Remember The 96.

It is a very special day for us all and we hope that you can once again join us on Saturday 22nd May.
