Medal Muddle returns in virtual format for 2021

As many of you know the BTR Medal Muddle concept was very well recived and it helped raise around £2,500 for local charities. Since last March it has not been possible to host any events due to the global pandemic but as we wait for the current health scare to clear, the Medal Muddle concept is now returning in virtual format.

If you are not aware, the medal Muddle concept was part of the BTR environmental approach to recycling event t shirts and medals that are inevitably left over over after race events. Normally these items would just simply go to waste but by upcycling them there is zero waste... and local charities benefit!

The spare t shirts and medals have been re-branded with the Medal Muddle logo and at the end of each Medal Muddle event you receive a mystery medal and t shirt.

Well now we can bring back the Medal Muddle concept - at least until the current health situation allows real events to happen again.

So, if you would like to undertake a virtual 5K at a time and location of your choosing then you will receive a Medal Muddle t shirt and medal and you can feature on the 2021 Medal Muddle gallery.

With the ongoing problems of the global pandemic still impacting on race events it has been necessary to review all event dates particularly for the first six months of this year.

The following changes are being implemented and all entrants will be contacted by email regarding the specific details of each event.

Revised event dates for 2021 -

Off Road 8 (Sunday 28th February) will now move to Saturday 16th October.

Wirral 10 Miler / 10K (Sunday 21th March) will now move to Sunday 27th June*

Mersey Tunnel 10K (Sunday 18th April) will now move to Sunday 26th September.

Run For The 96/5K will remain on Saturday 22nd May but will revert to virtual format.

Port Sunlight 10K / 5K will remain on Sunday 13th June.

Tour Of Merseyside (Sunday 27th June - Saturday 3rd July) will remain on these dates**

Liverpool Half Marathon / 10 Miler has already moved to Sunday 12th September.

Liverpool Santa Dash will take place on Sunday 5th December.

The If You Know Your History 5K hosted in conjunction with Everton In The Community is expected to take place in August and the date will be subject to confirmation of Premier League fixture dates which are not know at the time of writing.

* the date of Sunday 26th June is the preferred date for the Wirral 10 Miler /10K event. If the event is unable to be hosted because of ongoing Covid issues then a second date of Sunday 31st October will be considered.

** If the Southport Half Marathon is NOT held then the first leg of the Tour of Merseyside will be a half marathon course within the Wirral 10 Miler/10K. If the Wirral 10 Miler/10K can't go ahead until October then the Tour will be held over to 2022.

All changes that are now in place are provisional and subject to local authority permissions being granted. These permissions are in turn linked to the public health situation at the time of issue and are subject to change.

The last 12 months has proved to be very demanding in respect of event delivery and finding new dates for events is clearly very difficult because of the limited number of weekend dates available and the number of other events all of which are trying to find similar solutions.

If anyone who has already entered any of the above dates cannot make the revised dates then their places will be held over to the equivalent event in 2020. You will not lose your entry fee. You will not lose your place.

Thank you for your patience in these very challenging times.
