FINAL CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR WOMEN’S 10K RACE THIS WEEKEND
The ladies of Liverpool have just days left to register for this year’s BTR Women’s 10K, which takes place in Sefton Park this coming weekend.
Organised by BTR Liverpool, the event also features a 5K distance – the ideal stepping stone from a parkrun to a race day environment.
The race takes place on Sunday (6 September). The 5K race starts at 9.30am, followed by the 10K at 10.30am.
BTR Liverpool is keen to build on the race’s return to the sporting calendar – more than 1,000 runners have registered across the two races.
Final entries are being taken at https://www.btrliverpool.com/events/womens-10k-and-5k/
BTR Liverpool is the leading organisation for creating, managing, and delivering headline running events across Liverpool City Region.
Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity (LWHC) is the headline charity partner for the BTR Women’s 10K Liverpool 2026.
Liverpool Women’s Hospital is the UK’s largest specialist hospital dedicated to the health of women, babies, and families. Every year, it cares for thousands of women, babies, and families from across the North West and beyond. Charitable donations help fund innovations and compassionate care to support patient experience and outcomes.
That charity has more than 60 runners taking part on the day to raise funds to support its vital work – and collectively they have already raised over £6,000.
The charity team will have a marquee in the race village. They are encouraging runners and spectators to visit and find out more about their work and how to get involved.
By taking part in the Women’s 10K or 5K, runners can choose to fundraise for any area of Liverpool Women’s Hospital – giving them the opportunity to support the area that means the most to them.
Runners or supporters can also make a one-off donation to the charity at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/liverpoolwomens5k10k
BTR Liverpool brought back the historically popular female-only 10K race in 2024. After a successful comeback, a 5K race was added to the event in 2025 due to popular demand – making it an ideal distance for newcomers to running to get involved. More than 600 runners took part last year.
Sefton Park was the original home to the event when the race was at its peak in the 1980s and early 1990s.
All race finishers will receive a commemorative medal and T-shirt to celebrate their achievement.
BTR Liverpool recently reveal the medal and T-shirts on social media – a rainbow chrome medal featuring Peter Pan to highlight the statue in Sefton Park; a pink 5K T-shirt; and a purple 10K T-shirt.
The race will be hosted by Claire Simmo.
The partnership between the Women’s 10K Liverpool and Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity is the perfect fit.
Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity supports the vital work of Liverpool Women’s Hospital. The charity funds lifesaving and specialist medical equipment; research into women’s and babies’ health; enhanced facilities; and support services for families experiencing pregnancy complications, neonatal care, fertility treatment, gynaecological conditions, and pregnancy loss.
These additional services go above and beyond NHS provision, helping to ensure the best possible care and experience for patients and their families.
Loren Slade, Fundraising Manager at Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity, commented: “We have over 60 runners supporting Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity on Sunday – we are very proud to be headline charity partner for the BTR Women’s 10K and 5K Liverpool 2026. Together, these brilliant women have already raised more than £6,000 to support our patients and families when they need it most.
“We’ve also been lucky to receive fantastic support from Girls On The Go running community, Liverpool Women’s Hospital staff and supporters – and they’ll all be there on Sunday to cheer on everyone.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who is running, fundraising, or supporting us. There’s nothing better than seeing thousands of women cheering each other on, and that spirit of women supporting women is exactly what Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity is all about. Come along to our marquee and say hello, it’s going to be a really positive, empowering day.”
