Saturday 15th or 22nd May TBC.
9.30am Start, Stanley Park
RUN FOR THE 96 2020 – SATURDAY 16 MAY 2020
IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic and the added complexity of the extended Premier League fixtures which are yet to be arranged, we are reluctant to announce that that this year’s Run For The 96 5K WILL NOT take place in Stanley Park on Saturday 16 May 2020.
Instead, we are inviting participants to complete their own virtual 5K run on the scheduled event day of Saturday 16 May 2020.
PLEASE NOTE: The virtual run option will only be possible if permitted under current guidelines from the Government, Public Health England and World Health Organisation at that time.
We are extremely keen that this year’s Run For The 96 5K still goes ahead in some form. But these are unprecedented times and we are living in extraordinary circumstances.
Entrants will be sent their running number and medal in advance of the scheduled event date. Please wear your own choice of club colours on your run. Take a selfie from your run and include your race number and medal on the picture – it will be included in an online virtual gallery. Please send images to email@example.com
We would encourage participants to complete the fun run on the original event date of Saturday 16 May 2020, however this is flexible to fit in with individual personal circumstances so taking part any time over that specific weekend from Friday 15 May 2020 to Sunday 17 May 2020 is also welcomed.
We are still working out the final arrangements so please do bear with us.
This year’s event would be the sixth annual Run For The 96 event.
Run For The 96 was first staged in 2015 as a positive community legacy event to celebrate the lives of the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the Hillsborough tragedy on 15 April 1989. The event also remembers the families of The 96 and the survivors, who have tirelessly fought for justice with the utmost dignity.
Many people across Liverpool, the UK and more widely across the world, have supported Run For The 96 both in person and virtually – and behalf of everyone involved we thank you and are eternally grateful.
This year’s official beneficiaries are the LFC Foundation; Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation; Everton in the Community; and Stanley Park Liverpool CIC. Together, they support the vision of creating a legacy event to honour The 96 while ensuring local communities benefit.
Participants are encouraged to fundraise or make a one-off donation. All monies raised by participants or donated by third parties will be split equally between the four named beneficiaries – this year’s official fundraising page can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/runforthe962020
Run For The 96 has the support of the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG).

If you are unable to attend the main event on 16th May then you can still take part by entering as a virtual runner wherever you happen to be in the world.
There are two options available for virtual runners - those in the UK and those anywhere else in the world.
All you have to do is enter via the UK or international virtual button (below) and your event medal, t shirt and run number will be sent to you in advance of the race date and you can then run a 5K distance at a time of your choosing - in your event t shirt and with your medal.
When you have completed your 5K don't forget to take a selfie and send in so we can add you to the virtual gallery of competitors from across the world.
Send you virtual pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org
We CANNOT take event entries over the phone.
Race packs will be sent out approximately three weeks before the race date or as when received after that date, subject to entries still being taken.
