Tour Of Merseyside

The Tour of Merseyside is coming

 

The six race format will be as follows…

 

Race 1

Half Marathon - 13.1 miles

Sunday 30th June, Start time 9.00am

Venue: to be confirmed.

 

Race 2

Thurstaston Multi-Terrain - 6 miles

 

Monday 1st July, Start time 7.00pm

Station Rd, Thurstaston, Wirral, Merseyside, CH61 0HN

The Tour moves across to Wirral with a six mile challenge over track, beach, hill and dale! If anyone has taken part in the original Thurstaston race then you will know what this one is all about. The race starts on the caravan site roadway at the bottom of Station Road and finishes on the common overlooking the Dee Estuary – a great location to recover! That’s 19 miles completed.

 

Race 3

Sustrans Cycle Trail - 10 miles

 

Tuesday 2nd July, Start time 7.00pm

Walton Hall Park Car Park, Blackthorne Rd Entrance, Liverpool, L9 1HZ

A flat and fast course along what is known locally as ‘The Ralla’ - an old railway path which is now a very popular cycle path used by many of the local community. This leg will push your Tour mileage up to 29 and counting.

 

Wednesday – No race

 

Race 4

Raging Red Bull 5 - 5 miles

 

Thursday 4th July, Start time 7.00pm

Otterspool Drive, Liverpool, L17 5AL

Starting on the grassed area by the Red Bull monument runners will head north along the prom, as far as the Britannia Pub where there will be a structured u-turn to bring runners back to complete the 5 mile leg.

It's flat and fast, as long as your legs and lungs are up to it!.
34 miles chalked up.

 

Race 5

Knowsley Cross Country - 6 miles

Friday 5th July, Start Time 7.00pm

Stadt Moers Park, Knowsley L36 6JF

The 5th stage of the Tour is at Stadt Moers Park in Huyton. Please note it is not possible to park to the front of the park this year. All event parking will be opposite the Council building on Stretton Way and directions are shown in your race instructions.

Now is the time to dig in as the pressure builds over a six mile course around Stadt Moers Park.

Race 6

Wirral Coastal Run - 12 miles

 

Saturday 6th July, Start time 10.00am

Coastal Dr, Wallasey, Merseyside, CH45 3PZ

Well here we are. The final 12 miles over flat terrain along the north Wirral coast line. Starting in New Brighton the race starts at the end of King’s Parade and heads toward Hoylake before turning round to head for home for the final time. This 12 mile stretch will give you the full 52 miles over the week.

As you head towards the finish line how are you feeling? Elated…?
