Event Information

5K - 10.00am start.

10K - 11.00am start.

The Port Sunlight 10K and 5K started back in 2014 and is set in the idyllic village  of Port Sunlight. The village was built originally in 1888 to house William Hesketh Lever’s ‘Sunlight Soap’ factory workers, but today is home to beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community.

The village provides not only a unique and picturesque backdrop for runners but an ideal environment for a family day out - which is why the 10K and 5K races have been joined on race day by a 1K for kids to take part in so everyone can get involved.

The start and finish area sits alongside local landmarks, such as the impressive central fountain, the Lady Lever Art Gallery and the Port Sunlight Museum, with the route then a network of roads sending runners out on twists and turns into the corners of the village.

With the 5K setting off at 10.00am over a single lap, the 10K then starts at 11.00am over two laps, so there's plenty of running for the spectators to watch as 1,000s of runners chase down fast times.

With the main event complete it's then time for the youngsters to get involved and have a go over a short 1K course once the 10K is over. Entries are taken on the day for the 1K and everyone completing the course gets a medal and a little reward for their efforts.

Participants can also make the most of our Dual Race.

Over the last couple of year there has been growing interest in running both the 5K AND 10K races so if you would like to take up the dual race challenge, there are a limited number of places available for both races at a discounted rate.

Two t-shirts, two medals and a bonus Dual Entry medal. What's not to like about Port Sunlight?

Car Parking

All car parking locations on race day are just outside Port Sunlight Village and are within walking distance to the start and finish area at Windy Bank. This because the race route uses all available pubic roads within the Village.

From Barlow Avenue walk toward Bebington Station and then under the railway arch at the traffic lights. After the arch turn right into Greendale Road and after about 150 meters you will see Windy bank. The start and finish area is on the other side of the Lady Lever Art Gallery.

3. Bebington Civic Centre, capacity approximately 180 vehicles

Just off Church Road, Civic Way is about five minutes walk to the start and finish area. Exit Civic Way and turn left on to Church Road. Cross over and take The Wiend to Ellen's Lane then pass under the railway line to Bolton Road which is at the bottom end of the Village.

Turn left at Queen Mary's Drive and the start and finish area is just to the right of the fountain.

4. Bebington Station, capacity approximately 40 vehicles.

From the car park turn left and then immediately right on to Greendale Road. Either the first or the second access road on the left will take you to the Lady Lever Art Gallery. The start and finish area is at Windy Bank across from the Gallery.

As the event is hosted under UKA licence there is an age limit of 15 years on race day for the 5K and 16 years on race day for the 10K.

Is there an age limit on the 1K Fun Run?

No. The 1K fun run is open to everyone but is specifically for smaller children up to the age of 12 although there is no restriction. Parents are required to accompany their children around the course but not have to enter the run.

Is the course flat?

Do I get a medal for taking part?

Yes, everyone taking part receives a medal and an event technical t shirt.

Is there a time limit?

We would ask that anyone taking part in the 5K does not take more than an hour to complete the 5K course as this could hold up the start of the 10K race.

There isn't a time limit on the 10K although in recent years all participants have finished within 90 minutes.

Is there parking at Port Sunlight Village?

There is no parking within the Village itself as all the roads are taken up for the run. Parking is available at four locations on the edge of the Village.
